Very late post, but at least it’s here :p
Following my trip to Vancouver, my next placement was at Albany. Normally it would take about 5 hours to drive down to Albany, but I get anxious driving at speeds higher than 100kph. So, instead of driving at the speed limit of 110kph, I stayed at 100kph, and ended up taking about 6 hours to get to Albany.
This rotation involves me living with one other student, Clare. During the past 4 years of dental school, I can’t say I interacted much with her, so I was determined to be “BFFs” with her during this one month living with each other. I really owe her for being our main chef, but I definitely learnt a lot from her, and am very greatful for all the lovely meals we had ๐
So albany. I’ve been once many years ago, and I remember it being a relatively boring place. I came to realise that Albany is actually a very nice place to live in. It has everything you need, and traffic conditions are wonderful, and the people are lovely, and the surroundings are nice and green too! haha
Clinic was really fun. I love our supervisor. He was extremely entertaining and I do miss him so. In our spare time, Clare and I would play hangman and pictionary. We started getting bored of drawing single words, so we moved on to drawing idioms. That was fun ๐
Over the weekends, we visited nearby towns. We drove through Denmark and its tourist drive, Scotsdale Road. There, we went to see some wineries, without buying anything. We visited the cheese factory, and other little stores. Another weekend, we spent climbing Castle Rock. The view was very pretty at the top ๐ We also dove to Pemberton, where we climbed the bicentennial tree. Climbing up was alright, but climbing down was the scary part =\ Once again, the view was pretty cool at the top, but all you are treetops lol.
All in all, Albany was really good. I enjoyed it more than I did at Bunbury!
Oh and I forgot to mention..Clare likes dancing tango, and there was a tango group in Albany, so she ended up convincing me to try it out. It was actually fun ahha, although the instructor dumped a whole lot of dance moves on me as a first timer..
